ARC TBC Benjamin Billingham bc1818

Postby Frodo » Sun Oct 23, 2016 4:15 pm

I have a copy of the Family tree taken from The Billinghams of Cradley Heath website and have noticed a family member not on the Black Country Connection tree - I've been talking to my dad's cousin who is over 90 and he too does not recognise the name so I wondered if it is a mistake or if anyone knows anything - he has asked me to look as he is in failing health.

Benjamin married Charlotte Hall - on the Connection tree Esther is born c1847, Laura Weaver 1848 and Jane 1851 but the Billinghams of Cradley Heath has Laura called Lowe Reumea and a Susannah born in 1849. I can't tell from the small amount of information I have what is correct - there's no family evidence one way or the other and I've not seen anything when I've looked elsewhere.

It does look like it was a mistake or a twin who didn't survive or wasn't registered/present. I can't see any other obvious mention of Susannah on the Billinghams of Cradley Heath website and on a quick search of the BMD index I can only find Mary, Joseph and Esther so younger children may not have been registered or registered elsewhere although there are one or two unnamed Billingham births in Rowley Regis around the right time. Not sure what Laura should really be called on the family tree and Weaver sounds like an old surname but I have no knowledge of any Weaver's in the family.

FreeBMD has :-
BILLINGHAM Louie Reumea Dudley 18 310
Billingham Lowe Reumea Dudley 18 310

WMBMD has :-
BILLINGHAM Louie R Rowley Regis Sandwell Register Office RR/12/65

Family Search has Laura Weamer Billingham and Joseph Freeman not Trueman or Tromans for 1967 marriage

Looks like it. I do wonder why she used so many names - whether she didn't like her christened name or just had spelling/education problems. I also wonder if she ever met her nephew Albert Horace when he moved to Oldham after WW1.
