cant find a war record for Robert although i do believe he fought in first world war in 1913 he married Lillian Dinsdale in Stockton on tees when he was 22, at that time he was a fireman with NER then he doesn't pop up again until after war finishes and he is living in Sunderland St Houghton-le-spring county Durham as it was then ... now Tyne and wear, i have everything on him prior but nothing for this period between 1813 and 1819-20 could anyone help ? may be some one has knowledge of who was recruiting in Stockton area around 1813-14 i know he was working for railway which was exempt however he may have joined up, thankyou for any help you can give

Do you have his railway employment records? My grandfather also worked for the railways and his employment record shows the period during which he was released to serve and then his return to the company from that service.
Currently investigating the Hillmans of Sussex.

thanks for reply unfortunately i dont have that info, only that he worked for the N ER in 1913 as that is his occupation on marriage cert the area was stockton on tees

The North Eastern Railway Association may be able to help.
GenGuide may have more info.
