Rank, Profession or occupation

I am just wondering what these types of jobs means, could someone just explain it to me, in a simple way!? Sometimes a dictionary would work out fine, but this is a long time ago, so they may mean something different back then.

Most of these are taken from census between 1851-1891.

Colorist of Prints: Picture printing, both photographic and in presses was done in black and white, colo(u)rists were employed to 'fill in' the colours by hand. Good quality coloured prints can fetch a lot of money nowadays.
Cordivaine: probably a mis-transcription of cordwainer, a shoemaker who specialises in soft leathers.
Clother: Probably a mis-transcription of clothier, one who makes and/or sells clothes.
Selmer: I don't know this one, it's a not uncommon forename and surname, the internet gives a variety of meanings, but I wonder if, as a profession, it may have something to do with salt making.

Yesterday i recieved a marriagecertificate (Lambeth/London, 1924) were it says a persons occupation is: Attendent L. C. C
Anyone have clues about what that could be? (L.C.C)

..just a wild guess, could it be 'Lambeth County Council' / 'Lambeth City Council' ?

Of course it could be, but that's still just a guess. But maybe i should try to find out if there are any sources about these city councils online. Don't know how it's over there, but Norway is quite good in that (local history, etc.)

Bit of a long shot, but.....if the person concerned would have been old enough to have an occupation on the 1911 census, this may shed more light.

In 1911 it says: "ATTENDANT", and nothing else. And as far as i am concerned that could be like anything. Hmm.
