New guy on the block...

Postby dk-alan » Thu Feb 18, 2010 9:04 pm

Hi all,

I've started researching the YATES side of my family. I have traced them so far back to Samuel YATES born 1793 in Worcestershire. He is recorded in the 1841 Census as living at Orchard Street in Kidderminster. His profession was Weaver. He was married to Ann (born 1787). I have only been able to find two sons, Joseph YATES (born 1827) and Samuel Pardoe YATES (1825 - 1874).

Samuel Pardoe has a more traceable history, however it is Joseph YATES that is my direct ancestor. He was also a weaver in Kidderminster, but I am uncertain whether he moved to Wilton with his brother.

I'm trying to slowly piece my history together, so I am initially looking Joseph YATES and his father Samuel YATES. I have already seen that there is some information about this end of my family in this forum, so I hope I will be able to add some depth to the information I already have, plus it would be great to take things even further back in time.

I am still quite new to all this, and it doesn't make things easier that I live in Denmark. This means that I am very dependant on the Internet and ancestry.co.uk.

I hope in time that I will be able to share information as well as receive.

I look forward to being part of this forum.
