The mail paddle steamer SS The Violet was driven onto the sands during a storm on 5 January 1857 with the loss of seventeen crew, a mail guard, and one passenger.

carnt find any more census there a mary patrick (nee dunn) with a thomas
william could be a william john so that would be the two name on headstone ?
is william john son of mary ? at 22 on census ?
