I keep coming across this other Letitia Powell born the same year but it isnt her My great grandmother Letitia was born in Kirkdale on 26th May 1890 and her parents were William Powell and Ann Jones Sorry

I spent a long time looking but could not see anything that looked like her.

Thanks for looking Sparkstopper and Jimmy They must have moved from Wales to Liverpool sometime between 1881 and 1901 so I suppose they could have been anywhere, maybe even travelling Thanks anyway

DO you have her birth certificate to confirm that she was born before 1891?

It is not unheard of for family members, even parents to get ages wrong. If she was born just after the census that would explain why she can not be found.

My mum's cousin has sent me Letitia's birth certificate Just waiting for it to arrive in the post but she emailed me to say:
My Grandmother (Letitia Harris Powell) was born on 26 May 1890 the address is 6 North Dingle U.S.D. I have the certificate so yes she was born before 1891

Can we find Owen at all? Is this him in 1901? 36 Caernarvon Caernarvon Lancashire Bootle Cum Linacre Dock Labourer
Perhaps if we find him married in 1911 then we will know when he married, which might help find his family in 1891.

I found the entry in the Free Births Index which has to be the letitia in question,

District /county : West Derby /Lancashire
Volume and page : 8b 354

Bootle comes under West Derby, so it appears they were already living in Bootle at the time of her birth, unless she was born on the road and registered when they got there, but in any case they would have been residents in Lancashire for the 1891 census, but of course where they were staying on the night of the census is another story.

There is another thread for this viewtopic.php?f=1&t=16689 and the birth address is known to be 6 North Dingle, dated 26 May 1890.
The problem is to find Letitia Harris Powell in the 1891 census, and her mother (Ann) in the 1891/1901/1911 census.

There are a lot of variables.
Lettice/Letitia is 36 in 1881, but 60 in 1901
William Jones is 7 in 1881, and 24 in 1901
The family is in Wales in 1881 but Bootle area in 1901, and Letitia jnr was born there in 1890. However, her father is said to be a baker journeyman so he could have been anywhere.
Then too, on the other thread it says that Letitia Harris Powell may have had a child Mabel Isabela Jones out of wedlock. Hard to see how that fits in unless Ann Jones was not married to William Powell, in which case Letitia Harris Powell may also have used Jones as her surname.

Can anyone for Owen Jones in 1911/1901/1891 and post the details?

I guess the conclusion is they have either gone on holiday abroad after winning a competition or abducted by aliens.

Very strange that they all seem to have gone missing in 1891! I am not surprised by the age variations as that has happened so often during my research!
Apparently in 1891 lodging at 75 Roscommon Street, Everton is a William Powell, Married, 26, Baker, born Liverpool - Deaf and Dumb. Can anyone find the full census for me please as this has to be Ann's husband (also says married)
