COMPLETED - Davy Family 1893 - ?

Postby SRD » Mon Apr 08, 2013 7:17 am

I have Sarah Jane Laker marrying Albert Robert Davy 24 Nov 1893 at St Michael at Bowes, Middlesex.
The 1901 Census has:
Albert Davy Head M 28 Wood Sawer London Dalston
Sarah Davy Wife M 28 Sussex Eastbourne
Amy Davy Daur 5 Middx Tottenham
Grace Davy Daur 3 Middx Tottenham
Albert Davy Son 2 Middx Tottenham
Philip Davy Son 9 Mo Middx Tottenham
Eldred Davy Father 60 Engineer Fitter Norfolk Norwich

There is a passenger record for Albert Robert Davy, apparently on his own, travelling from Liverpool to Vera Cruz via New York departing Liverpool 20th January 1904, arriving New York 28th January 1904, after that - nothing.

Please can anyone find anything of Sarah Jane and her children after 1901?

Thanks.

Googling found an old (2005) query on Genealogy.com from one of Grace's descendants saying Grace, had married a Mexican so I presume the whole family emigrated. I've not had a response to my application for membership to the forum there or from the email address she left.

I think the end bits read:
Prison: No (overwritten with 2? days or pays 2?, Form 1511 attached)
Health: Good (overwritten with Poor Ships Ague Corneal Opacity)
Deformed: No (overwritten with Loss of 3rd finger of left hand)

I think the first refers to offences committed on board, although I haven't been able to find the actual form 1511 there are references to it on the web when accompanied with maritime punishment.
Given that Albert was a sawer (sawyer) it wouldn't have been unusual for a digit to be missing nor for it to not be considered a deformity.

I think the other bit refers to the following entry, something about "friend of ? ?" in the "who are you going to see?" column although it might refer to Albert's family.

Thanks, yes, that is one of theirs. I am now in contact with them but still can't find much of the info they have found regarding various members of the family travelling to and fro from Mexico via the US to UK and back again.
Apparently they had a further three or four children once they got to Xalapa, Mexico.
