this is the birth registration

Sep qtr 1840
Osbiston Francis Dodman Kings Lynn 13 170

He seems to have been registered (and baptised) as Francis Osbiston with Dodman as his middle name. There would have been no difficulty doing this even though his parents did not marry until later.

Any how, if you are researching Issac Watson and Mary Ann Dodman then I don't think Francis is part of the picture.

If I am right on this now, I think I can make this simpler. From Thomas Dodman 1697 - 1744 & Mary Spragg 1696 - 1755, we get 2 brothers Robert Dodman 1730 - 1798 & Elizabeth Bird 1728 - 1804 + John Dodman 1732 - 1799 & Ann Sapey 1736 - ? Following each brothers line of lineage we can solve this once & for all. I hope I am right on this.

Startng with Robert 1730 the eldest, we get a son Stephen Dodman 1766 - 1842 & wife Elizabeth Reeve 1759 - 1842, From here we get a son John Thomas Dodman 1796 - ? & wife Mary Ann Moore 1796 - ? Their daughter Mary Ann 1819 - 1863 marries Issac Watson.

2nd brother John Dodman 1732 & wife Ann Sapey. Have a son John Dodman 1756 - ? married to Alice Briant 1760 - d. ?, Here we get thei daughter Ann Dodman b. 1818 - 1894 married to Francis Osbiston.

This has been so mind boggling to me & yet the answer was right in front of my face, if I took the time to research this properly.

Thanks for all the help setting this right. I hope I got both lines of lineage " RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!! "

Are you skipping a generation or something? If Alice was born i 1760 I don't think she is likely to be mother of Ann born 1818.

Ann's baptism may be this one as it fits both the census details for Ann (born Helhoughton) and her father's name and occupation (from Ann's marriage details)

County Norfolk
Place Helhoughton
Church All Saints
RegisterNumber
DateOfBirth
BaptismDate 26 Jul 1818
Forename Ann
Sex F
FatherForename John
MotherForename Mary
FatherSurname DODMAN
MotherSurname DODMAN
Abode Helhoughton
FatherOccupation Labourer

I know, I started posting that and trying to link the family via the census but to be honest I am not sure what the question is any more  so I deleted it all.

I " APOLOGIZE " for all the confusion on this posting. I think this may be the finall post on this matter. John Dodman 1732 - 1799 & Ann Sapey 1736 - ? Their son John Dodman 1756 - 1812 & his wife Alice Briant 1760 - ? Had 6 children, they were: 1: Violet ( no info ), 2: William ( no info ), 3: Alice 1778 - ? married to Robert Slegg, 4: John 1 Aug 1780 - 1 Sep 1780, *JOHN 1786 - ? married to SUSANNA WEST, 6: William 1788 - ? married to Alice ?

* John Dodman & Susanna West, married 21 Jan 1808, Fakenham, should be the parents of: 1: William, 2: Elizabeth, 3: Robert, 4: ANN 1818 married to Francis Osbiston, 5: Alice.

I hope this clears all the confusion, this whole familly living in & around Snettisham has so many familly members with the same names. No wonder it has been so " MIND BOGGLING FOR US ALL!!!!!!! "

Now that we have found Mary Ann Dodman 1819 married to Issac Watson & Ann Dodman 1818 married to Francis Osbiston, leaves another question, whom is my Ann Dodman of Nicholas & Mary Pilgrim? I may have an inclination on this & will make another posting at a later time.
