Being dead has nothing to do with no service records.

Unfortunately about 60% of WW1 records were destroyed during the Blitz in WW2.

There were two Thomas Dorricott in the King's Shropshire Light Infantry.

The one who died had the Regimental Number 24428.

The other one had two Regimental Numbers. Started with 1735. Finished with 200311.

Apart from the standard British and Victory the second Thomas also received "TF War Med Shrop L.I /TFM 22"

I assume this was a special medal only for members of the King's Own.

You could enquire with regimental historians to see if they have any more information on the recipient of that medal.

Sorry to give duff info.
I should have said that the only records that I can view appear to be the ones where the men have been discharged, not KIA.
