Hi,

I've checked the military records for John Bill Downes Weaver but with no luck however it's possible he enlisted under John Weaver and I've found a number of John Weavers. The problem is around 60% of the pension and service records were destroyed during the 2nd World war so if he did enlist his records may well have been destroyed.

My advice is to obtain the birth certificates of his children born between the war years of 1914-1918 and on theses certificates it should state his military details. The problem is it will cost money and not sure of the result :? .

I noted a possible two children:

England & Wales, FreeBMD Birth Index, 1837-1915
Birth, Baptism & Christening
Name:
Millie Weaver
Mother:
Collins
Birth:
Dec 1915 - Dudley, Worcestershire

England & Wales, Birth Index, 1916-2005
Birth, Baptism & Christening
Name:
George Weaver
Mother:
Collins
Birth:
Mar 1918 - Dudley, Staffordshire

What evidence do you have to suggest he did serve during the war ? Family hearsay, documents or photos' etc.

Hope this helps.
