The ages are a bit out, the second one not so much as the first, if she was born approx 1860. But that is not unusual. You could try sending for a death cert and hope that would give you more info.

Hi Gracie Mae,

I've searched and searched for any information on Joseph's military records and I just can't find anything.

It could be possible he served in the First World War but given his age I doubt it would have been front line.

I think Cid makes a very good suggestion but of course these certificates cost money and may not help.
