RAF Weeton, Blackpool

Postby dazwhites2003 » Mon Dec 19, 2011 10:40 am

Hi. I am looking for some info about my Grandads RAF career during WW2. I have some photos of him based at RAF Weeton which I believe was near Blackpool. I think this is where he would have undertook basic training? I have been told he was a rear gunner in a Lancaster bomber? One of the photos is of my Grandad 'John Terence Mckeown' stood along side 24 other men all wearing RAF uniforms (he would be about twenty years old), on the back of photo is written 'Weeton, Hut W3 13/01/1942, Home of Binds' Not sure what the last part means? I can scan the image if this helps.

I am looking for any info on my Grandad or RAF Weeton. I would like to try and find out where and who he served with. I also have a small photo of him sat with other airmen outside a hut, on the back is written Iceland 1945.

Many thanks

Hi Darren, would it help if your photo/s were added to our Military section in the Gallery, along with the details you posted above?
If you would like to have your ancestors photo's included in our Gallery, please send me a pm.
