Have been told that Lawson was a squadron leader but would like it confirmed if anyone can do that please.
If it was in peace time how would I go about finding him?

Did just that Jimmy and found him on RAF commands website. He was in 83 Sqn and was awarded the DSO. Cited 26 Oct 1945.
