A WW1 letter at the black country museum collections that was sent by Private Henry Maurice Tinsley, 1916 sadly looking forward to a Christmas he never saw. LestWeForget

Letter is written on lined paper in pencil. Address in the top right hand corner is 'PTE H M TINSLEY, 13741 9TH WORC TRANS SEC, 13TH DIV TRANSPORT, WARDIAN CAMP, BASE HORSE DEPOT, ALEXANDRIA, EGYPT, DEC 24TH 1915'.

The letter itself reads: 'DEAR WILL, NOW THAT I HAVE GOT OVER MY VERY LARGE BATCH OF CORRESPONDANCE I TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY OF WRITING TO YOU AGAIN. NO DOUBT YOU WILL BE SURPRISED TO HEAR FROM ME SO SOON, BUT I COULD NOT HELP SENDING YOU A PHOTO OF MYSELF IN MY RIDING HABIT, ONE OF MY PALLS PASSED A JOKE WHEN I WAS HAVING IT TOOK, THAT IS WHY I AM SMILING. I WAS MORE THAN PLEASED TO GET YOUR LETTER AND PARCEL, AND THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THEM, FOR NOW I AM SURE OF HAVING AN ENGLISH SMOKE FOR CHRISTMAS. I SAID I SHOULD NOT GET A VERY GOOD XMAS, FOR NOTHING HAS BEEN ALTERED AS REGARDS TO FOOD, BUT NEVERMIND. WILL I WILL MAKE OUT FOR IT WHEN I COME HOME, WHAT SAY YOU? I WAS ABSOLUTELY DONE IN ON XMAS MORN NEVER HAD ANYTHING TO EAT ALL DAY ALL FREE BEER & WHISKEY, SO I DO NOT FEELL LIKE WRITING SO WILL CLOSE NOW FROM YOUR OLD PALL HARRY'

With musuems permission to research they are after any more information about where he was serving/what operations he may have been involved
