Old Hill Liberal Women

San has kindly put a photo of live people in the Hackett collection

It was on a postcard and on the reverse it states :
Dear Annie & Jack, on the front are The Liberal Women, out at Bewdley & a few of them had their photos no doubt you will know some of them best Love from all

The lady in the middle with the flower in her hat is Ann Rebecca Hackett nee Crumpton (1863 -1941) and the girl standing in front of her is her daughter Rebecca Hackett (1904-NK). Annie was another of Ann Rebecca's daughters.

This Hackett family came from Old Hill -- so presumably "Liberal Women" of Old Hill/Cradley Heath depending on how far the area stretched

From the age of Rebecca (1904) I would estimate that the picture was taken around 1910 (someone who is good on dating photos may be able to confirm that from the styles of dress of the younger women.)

Does anyone recognise any of the others -- or know anything else about "The Liberal Women"

Possibly but I don't think this set of Hackett's were a chain making family -- more likely a Bank Holiday trip out I suspect

What a lovely picture MG, I agree must have been about 1910, Rebecca looks as though she is about 6 or 7 in the picture, love their little old handbags :!: They must have belonged to Old Hill Liberal Club, as you say, out on a Day Trip, probably travelled on the Train from Old Hill Station. Linell.

My Nan's Outfit was of a similar style to the ones worn by the Ladies in the Picture.

What an absolutely smashing photo - still lots of growing room in those hems and I love the hats.

This has made me wonder whether my mother was wrong and it was actually Christabel Hackett (b 1909) with her mother which would place it nearer to 1918 -- it would also explain why she was on he own with her mother as the rest of her sisters might have been at work by then.
