Hi this was a local name for one of the Dudley or RR Coal Mines, does anyone know the proper name please?

That is a brilliant site! Great to see what must be typed notes making it onto the internet. Do you know when Eliza Orme visited the Black Country? I don't see a date on the notes there (may not have looked carefully enough)?

Had a read about Eliza, to be honest I had never heard of her, now I have much admiration for her
gosh the places and people see met and in the most horrid of situations, great that they were documented
I read them shaking my head at the living conditions, no wonder they drank explains alot in my tree
reading thru the article I didn't see any dates for her visits tho the typed pages seem to start at page 16
I cruised google, there's a couple of google books that mention her in the blackcountry but I
could only get snippet views. Will have another look tomorrow..

There was a Mrs Eliza Orme who was into women's rights but died in 1893, perhaps it was her daughter. There is an unmarried daughter Eliza aged 32 in the 1881 census so that would make her the right sort of age and background I think.

Trying to tie down the poss date Eliza visited the blackcountry, I think between 1901 & 1905 (Mary Ann Tibbetts age & death of J Russell)

In her first visit Eliza speaks to a Miss Mary Ann Tibbets, a woman between 50 & 60. Mary Ann's brother & two nephews work together..
