Hi up to 1881 The lane leading to the Knowle Chapel in photo was called Knowle Lane about 1871-1881 it changed to be called Springfield Lane -best to call in Smethwick Archives and have a good ferret around always friendly helpful staff on hand to help best RF :?: :-)

thanks for the info rf,ive been waiting for the snow to clear. now the archives will be closed for easter i suppose.it must have been tough in the ancesters days with poor heating,light and no hot running water, etc etc etc regards bcb.
