Hi Mallosa enjoyed that link very much , some lovely photo's and stories the one about 'The Pig and the Band' there was a photo in the Bugle with the pig on the wall watching the band go by. :-)

I lived in Whiteheath from the age of 15 but a lot of my school mates from Good Shepherd,mentioned on the website,ived there.
I have this in book form.really interesting as most of these buildings and farms were still around in the 60's.
In fact there's a photo of Portway Hall recently mentioned in another thread!!

It's Terry Daniels who runs the local history group in Oldbury. He's done some splendid work. Have a look at the "home movies" which he's had tranferred into digital and dowloadable form, the Queen's visit to Oldbury in 1957 and the remarkable "Town Sparrows" film of Oldbury children from Albert Street in 1948/9 going to Rounds Green School and playing by the now non-existent Loop Canal which ran through the town:
