Presuming that is the 1881 census and Antie Em is happy this appears to be the 1871

1871 Brick Yard Lane, Leigh
TAYLOR, William Head M 35 1836 Worcestershire Dairyman Broadway?
TAYLOR, Mary Wife F 42 1829 Worcestershire Charwoman Malvern
STOCKALL, William Son M 14 1857 Worcestershire Milk boy MAdefield?
TAYLOR, James T Son M 9 1862 Worcestershire Farmer's boy MAnifield?
TAYLOR, Emily E Daughter F 8 1863 Worcestershire St Johns
TAYLOR, Samuel Son M 6 1865 Worcestershire Leigh
TAYLOR, Edward Son M 4 1867 Worcestershire Leigh

Children match with 1881 apart from .... ?
What can you deduce from this?

What you need to remember is that the relationships were as vague then as they are now -- with the added complications that some of the words means different things -- eg son-in-law then could mean husband of daughter (as now) or stepson (as in son of wife)

similarly the husband sometimes was fond enough of his wife's son (from a previous marriage/before they married!) to call him SON

Try thinking that William Stockall was son born before they were married and see if you can find a marriage between William Taylor and MAry Stockall -- remember all the lessons you have learnt from Antie Em.

PS I haven't had a chance to check this out yet so it may be a dead end but......

I think you mean 1860!!

Gold Star indeed that was the one I came up with -- you will need Jimmy/Antie Em/? to tell you whether we can get more info on that from the info and which record office we would need to contact but there you are :

You are certainly getting the hang of it now --

It would be helpful if someone could find them in 1861 census--

If no-one else has managed to find it for you I will try tomorrow but I had better go to bed or I won't know what I am teaching tomorrow!

That certainly ticks more boxes Hope --
father William occupation Dairyman close to farmer
James T Taylore born 1862 Worcester -- Question is Leith near to Malvern (google maps is the best way to check this)
Looks good to me ---

Looks like you got your GOLD STAR after all --we will need to wait for the morning to check this that Antie Em is happy too

This is the right family Hope - I'll now add it to your family on BCC Tree - Yes - you can have a gold star

Good Morning Hope

Now you have found the 1881 Census for James Taylor, I have added the two previous census, 1861 and 1871

1861 : Brook End, Bransford, Worcs
William Taylor, Head, 23, Ag Lab, Born Broadwas, Worcs
Mary Taylor, Wife, 31, Labourer’s Wife, Born Malvern, Worcs
Henry Stockall, StSon, 8, Scholar, Born Madresfield, Worcs
William Stockall, Son, 4, Born Madresfield, Worcs

1871 : 10 Brickyard Lane, Leigh, Malvern Link, Worcs
William Taylor, Head, 35, Drainer?, Born Broadwas, Worcs
Mary Taylor, Wife, 42, Charwoman, Born Malvern, Worcs
William Stockall, Son, 14, Madresfield, Worcs
James T Taylor, Son, 9, Farmer’s Boy, Born Bransford, Worcs
Emily E Taylor, Daur, 8, Scholar, Born St Johns, Worcs
Samuel Taylor, Son, 6, Scholar, Born Leigh, Worcs
Edward Taylor, Son, 4, Scholar, Born Leigh, Worcs

Now we need to find a marriage for William and Mary.

If you look at the 1861 Census, you will see that there are two boys with the family, who are step sons to William.

Mary must have been married before, and this 1861 Census, gives us a clue to her previous marriage.

She would have been Mary Stockall when she married William Taylor and they probably married in Worcestershire.

Can you find a marriage for them before 1861 on FreeBMD?
