IGI extracts

Postby Rob » Fri Feb 03, 2012 2:01 pm

I was refused help by someone who shall remain nameless when enquiring how to make an extract when on the web site of the Mormons. " The Church of the Latter Day Jesus Christ" or something like that.
I was more or less forced to request help in the beginners section!
Well i'm not proud!! Can someone please help me?

Rite Rob................2 links

1. The new search site .............I prefer the old one

https://www.familysearch.org/

2 the old one
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Search/ ... search.asp

Click on Old one

Click on left hand side the "International Genealogical Index"

you get this
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Search/ ... search.asp

Then put in name you want to search for

So lets try an eg

look for Philip Plant born around 1830

-put in his first name and last name in boxes = Philip plant

then choose event from drop down box .........choose Birth/christening
put in year -1830
Then select a year range go with 5 years for this one
Go to region ...choose British Isles
Country ....select England
Then maybe choose a county if you know it if not leave it and
just click search

see what you get

- Then put in fathers name on right lets put in James Massey
-Then put in mothers name lets put in Sarah

-from event box choose christening

- then click on drop down box for the range of years to search....choose 20 yrs

-Click on region-----------British Isles select
- Click on England for the country
-choose county if you know it otherwise just click on
-search

choose the county Staffordshire for this eg

Thanks again Jan,it seems you're the only one i can rely on for help on here!! :(
I understand what you say and with Massey you do get 4 children in a list but if you put John Williams and Sarah as father and mother and the year 1790 county worcester you get a larger list.
I do see 6 kids born Halesowen same parents of which i'm 99.9% sure they're all from the same family but how can i be sure?

can you put the link on the B C Section
show us where they are on Bcc and let's have a look

you would need to look at census and the actual bapts and other docs to see which ones
belong to your John and Sarah

put a post on with link in BC section see you in there

On the new site you can no first name. Add surname, parents names. And search
You can narrow down by adding in County, about birth years etc.

When I search on the old site, clicking on the batch number and just add parents names I get redirected to the new search.
