How is everyone doing?

Postby Northern Lass » Sat Mar 07, 2020 9:15 am

Well how are you all doing?

This virus news is not good is it?
Have you been stocking up on stuff?
Have you had it?
Have you had to self isolate?

Went shopping other day and shelves nearly empty of loo rolls
empty of hand gel

I was out of loo roll so thought I would have to go back to using newspaper!!

If we have to self isolate the divorce rate will soar!!
Retiring with each other is going to be bad enuff but ill and retired!

Might have to go back to doing Genealogy research! :P

Feeling fed up. I rely on socialising and can't bare to be in the house alone for too long. It has too many reminders of the trauma of my husband passing.

The shops near me in Sheffield also have no stock. It's all a bit crazy. I'm in the process of moving with no date yet so hoping that not affected.

Genealogy definitely a good way to chill out.

As Fraser would say on dad`s Army -We`re all doomed- no escape on a small island

Talk about small islands! I'm not sure the UK is testing properly. Iceland has 50 positive cases so far... in a population of 360,000!!! Mind you, the vast majority caught it on a ski holiday in northern Italy so that may have skewed the figures

It has concerned me for a while as my son and his family live close to where it started... :wtf:
He teaches English, lessons are done over video link for the time being.
Food has been very short for them and staying inside most of the time...

I think, as long as we keep our hands clean and try to cough in a hanky or elbow we can help stop the spread.
If you feel poorly stay away from people. That really should be the norm.

I have not stocked up on anything.
Panic buying is silly...what about people who can not afford to stock pile?

It is obviously a bad bug but concerns are really for the elderly and people with lung problems as it tends to go to pneumonia. :(

I don't understand the "run" on bog roll. Nowhere have i read that the symptons of Corona include diareea !!! Use no paper or less paper and then wash your backsides after.Cleaner and more hygenic. In The Netherlands people are also "prepping" and getting ready for self isolation. Wash your hands when you've been outside in the bad world . In fact when you wash your hands sing happy birthday twice whilst doing it. Keep your fingers and possibly other peoples hands out of your mouth and drink more fluids. Simple rules.

A lot of the younger population will ignore self isolation and kill a lot of older people because they still feel OK

Oddly enough, in our part of the world, it's the oldies you still see around and about, taking things in their stride, it's the younger people who are panic buying, getting deliveries rather than going to the supermarket, not going to the pub etc.

That`s now, I was thinking in a few weeks time when we have thousands of cases and hundreds of deaths could have be avoided  PS 50000 at Cheltenham every day got to be loads of them with it

Too late now to worry about that, the virus is nicely spread all round the country, now it's only a matter of time. I feel sorry for the doctors having to choose who gets treatment and who doesn't.

The idea is to stop the nicely spread virus infecting the vulnerable people ,most people will survive and recover and take no notice of passing it on unless it`s their rels  So sad the war time spirit has totally gone in this country our elders gave so much to save this country

your not going to stop the virus until there a vaccine, if the government goes on lock down and shuts schools who going to look after the kids over a million people work in the health service are they going to leave their post to look after their kids ? how many grandparents will get the job the most vulnerable? you wont stop kids mixing even if their off school are you going to chain them to the beds? you need to balance everything to keep the economy going if he is going to do a shut down it will be around the 2 week Easter break they will start it earlier or and extend it this will take us into may and it will of took the pressure of the hospitals as were out of winter
