*Archived tbc* -Ann Pardoe abt 1811 Stourbridge

Postby RachelK » Fri Jan 09, 2009 11:39 am

Hi everyone, looking for this Ann Pardoe please and her family and whoever she connects to.

She supposedly marries Thomas Kendrick some time between 1841 and 1851 although haven't yet found a marriage. Their first child is (I think) a daughter named Ann born abt 1846. Thomas seems to have had children with a previous unknown partner as can be seen here...http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tribe/browse?userid=bcconnections&view=0&pid=15064&rand=749087180

Ann Pardoe gives her age in 1851 as 40 and in 1861 as 45 so year of birth between 1911-1916? Thanks for looking. OOPS JUST EDITED THE TITLE, JUST TO MAKE SURE, THAT'S b1811 NOT 1911.

I have their 2nd daughter Mary's birth certificate and it just lists the mother as Ann Kendrick formerly Pardoe. No other name. If she had been married before wouldn't it list the previous married name AND her maiden name?

I am not sure how this works as I've not got any certificates of widow/widowers who've remarried. Any thoughts are appreciated, thanks Peterd.

Ta NL. Thought it was something like that. Unlikely that Ann Pardoe was married previously then, or at all, as we haven't actually found a marriage for her and Thomas Kendrick.

He may have been a widower as he certainly had children before meeting Ann, although he might not have been officially married to that partner either.

Dianel's clever eyes have come up with something interesting (this is also posted on Thomas K 1827 thread, but will make a note on it to redirect to here.)

This family are living next door to Thomas Kendrick b.1802 in 1841..

All born in county
Jno Wooldrige 60 Labourer
Leah Wooldrige 50
George Wooldrige 15 Iron Shifter
Alice Wooldrige 20 Worsted Spinner
Elizabeth Wooldrige 10 Bobbin Piecer
Harriott Wooldrige 15
Anne Pardoe 15 Worsted Doubling(?)

I think it strongly likely that this Anne Pardoe is the one he ends up living with as his wife? Although, there is a big age discrepancy as on the next census Ann says she is 40. The one after she says 45. Could it be, that if she were much younger than Thomas, they might have decided to not officially marry as it might look strange to the authorities, and then afterwards she assumed a much older age to not look out of place with her 'husband'?
