Got a bit of a problem now :-(

At some point or other I entered a load of Woodhouse stuff on BCC and you can see it here, William Woodhouse bapt 1762 and Ann Richards
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... =927763167

Now, I can't find any baptism for this William and I have no idea what I was thinking at the time!
Di has entered some Woodhouses too, same couple William and Ann Richards BUT she has William baptised 1766. This has the advantage of actually existing :-) but makes William rather young when he marries in 1780 :-(
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... =514694675

To add to the confusion, another site has William, husband of Ann Richards, born 1753 and the son of different parents (Benjamin Woodhouse and Mary Richards).
http://www.tribalpages.com/tribe/browse ... =307987441

Clearly we can´t all be right and it does need clarifying.

I think we all agree on William Woodhouse marrying Ann Richards 17 Feb 1780 at Rowley Regis. Who is William's father?
Not William bpt 1762 - no baptism for this one
Possibly William bapt 1766 to William and Susannah but he would be just 14 when marrying so not really likley is it?
Possibly 21 Sep 1753, parents Benjamin and Mary. Has the advantage that his mother's maiden name is also Richards so possibly some family connection there. Bur 2 Feb 1824, aged 70, from Turner's Hill.

William left property at Cock's Green to his daughter Mary Partridge (not seen that will but she mentions it in her will in 1856).
William's son John Woodhouse married Elizabeth Smart and his will leaves Roseland Farm to his family and mentions his brother William Woodhouse of Oakham.
Another son, Benjamin, left property at Lye Cross when he died.

SO, does that all fit with OK with William being the one from Turner's Hill? And son of Benjamin and Mary?

Any better ideas anyone? It will be a lot of work to correct this and I don't want to do it more than once!!!!

That sounds pretty reasonable, Gardener, William being the son of Benjamin & Mary. I have a note that Benjamin's will was proved "His will, dated 6 Jan 1764, was proved at Worcester, 2 Apr following." Don't know if this can be found and if it might help.

It would be great to get that will. I may try and chase that up, thanks.

Meanwhile I found this:

Jun 14 1818, Ann Smart dau of John and Elizabeth Woodhouse, Turner's Hill, farmer
(Smart would be a middle name, mother's maiden name)

So if John was farmer at Turner's Hill then that would fit with his father's burial being the one
1824 2 Feb Willm Woodhouse Turner’s Hill , 70, Dropsy

which would make William born 1754 and agree well with the 1753 baptism, son of Benjamin and Mary.

OK, well if there are no objections I will change that tomorrow.

Hi Pete
That was the marriage behind the first two options ie the ones that we have entered on BCC (see above).
They married in 1760 and had a son William in 1766 (and one invented by me it 1762!). But born 1766 would make him only 14 when marrying Ann Richards in 1780 so that really doesn't work.

Incidentally ... ...
according to my records, Benjamin who married Mary Richards and William who married Susannah Smith are brothers. John Woodhouse and Mary Willetts had at least 9 children, poor Mary dying only 4 years after the birth of Benjamin at the age of 47 (worn out , no doubt). You might note that John's mother was also a Mary Richards. The Woodhouses and Richards families being thoroughly entwined at the time. I don't know if Benjamin and William jnr were marrying their cousins - probably!

I got a copy of this will today (Worcester are very efficient) and it has Benjamin's kids as William, Samuel, Mary, Phebe and Ann. All under 21 in 1764. Wife is Mary.
So I think that all checks out and I will edit BCC accordingly.
