Done a marriage look up for Elijah Basterfield and Maria Jones in 1837 here...
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... =637920173(scroll down to see marrige info in notes)
her father is a John Careless.
Can anyone find a marriage for this Maria to a ? Jones?
She seems to be born Northfield so think that was Warwick.
She has a son William Jones in 1841

Hi her name is Marie Carelefs as I have the name on Henry Basterfields marriage certificate with her married name as Jones. I will update with all info I have ASAP but will be away this weekend. I still have loads of names to put on so we should reach the target by Christmas!

Sorry Henry is the son and I have his birth certificate which states his mothers name as Carelefs. Elijah is his father.

Hmmm I am not convinced it is Carelefs
the look ups that I do at the archives very often when there are 2 SS's together they make the first one bigger - dont know why- maybe to distinguish it.
found this which stuck out Louisa Careless
father John mother Elizabeth
names Maria uses. ie Louisa /Elizabeth
LOUISA CARELESS Christening: 10 APR 1808 Kingswinford, Stafford,
Father: JOHN CARELESS
Mother: ELIZABETH
Extracted birth
no Maria though

Hi NL I found them living in Birmingham Street Halesowen 1851
Elijah Basterfield HD M 34 Nailor born Halesowen
Maria Wife 39 Nailor born Rubery Hill Worcs (that would come under Northfield)
Louisa DA 12 Nurse Halesowen
Sarah DA 9 Halesowen
Henry 3 Son Halesowen
Wm Jones Lodger 15 Nailor Worcs
Mary Jackson Lodger 35 Nailor Hasbury
Careless is a local name, but mainly from the Lye area, but there are always exceptions. Best Wishes from linell.

I couldn't find a marriage for Maria either NL. I don't think the Churches out Northfield way are on the IGI or West Midlands Free BMD, St Leonard at Frankly for one. Best Wishes linell.
