Hi
can we stop and think about this a bit?
NL - where did you get this Joseph born c. 1800? We need some context for the query.

Farsides posts are for this Joseph I think

1796 July 5th Joseph s of Joseph and Mary Woodhouse of Newtown, Rowley,Park Lane Presb. I think.

Joseph and Sarah had a daughter Maria who married John Billingham 1/4/1839 St Thomas Dudley
Maria baptised:
1816 June 17th
Maria d of Joseph and Sarah Woodhouse of Rowley

Only question is, is that the Joseph NL wants? How can we be sure that Thomas born 1828 and married to Mary Willetts (on BCC link given above is the Thomas aged 8 in 1841?

I think this may be the right family as FS flagged.
In 1861 they are in Tibbetts Gardens
Thomas Woodhouse h m 33 Chain maker b RR
Mary Woodhouse wife 29 b RR
Thomas son 7
William 2
James 1 mth

the location is good.
esp as they are at no 78 tibbetts too.
but the age is out for Thomas on 1841
cant see a bapt for Thomas can anyone?

Just want to add this in so I don't lose it....

1861 RG9-2040, folio 103 Rowley Regis,Reddal Hill
Spiners End
John Billingham,head,mar,39,Nail maker,Worcestershire,Stourbridge
Maria Billingham,wife,msr,45, Nail maker,Staffordshire,Rowley Regis
William Billingham,son,un,23, Nail maker,Staffordshire,Rowley Regis
Ann Billingham,dau,un,21, Nail maker,Staffordshire,Rowley Regis
Joseph Billingham,son,un,19, Nail maker,Staffordshire,Rowley Regis
James Billingham,son,9, Nail maker,Staffordshire,Rowley Regis
Rebecca Billingham,dau,9, Staffordshire,Rowley Regis
Alfred Billingham,son,7, Staffordshire,Rowley Regis
Samuel Billingham,son,5, Staffordshire,Rowley Regis
Eliza Billingham,gdau,1, Staffordshire,Rowley Regis
Maryanne Woodhouse,lodger,un,44,Chain maker, Staffordshire,Rowley Regis

This is Maria (Woodhouse) daughter of Joseph and Sarah (Joseph is with the Billinghams in 1871)
The Maryanne here seems to be the one baptised at Cradley 9 Feb 1820, along with Elizabeth Woodhouse.
Also there is Sarah Woodhouse bpt Cradley 6 July 1834
And at Park Lane, Cradley there were:

1821 December 21st
Jemima d of Joseph and Sarah Woodhouse of Cradley
1816 June 17th
Maria d of Joseph and Sarah Woodhouse of

But the odd thing is that Joseph, John and Thomas from the 1841 census are missing.

Didn't I just say that
I think it firms things up a little since Elizabeth's father Joseph is given as a nailer in her 1839 marriage. So have
1839 Joseph Woodhouse nailer (Eliz's marriage)
1841 Joseph Woodhouse nailer (Census)
1850 Joseph Woodhouse chain maker (Thomas's marriage)
1851 Joseph Woodhouse chain maker (census)

The census entries seem to be the same person and I can't find any good alternatives to this scenario but I'm still worried about Thomas's age in 1841 census and the lack of baptisms.

Rite wot are we puttin on Connections cos I am lost!

I know we have Charles and Elizabeth Hampton and their brood including that Sarah gd dau who we cant slot in with a father cos he might be Edward? or William..so stuck there.

then are you saying that Elizabeth Hampton (nee Woodhouse ) is the sister of Thomas and both the kids of Joseph Woodhouse
and further kids are Maria and Mary ann...or am I confused...

and could someone please put this on Connections with the solution...cos my brain has had it!

If you want, I'll put it on BCC, I'll add the Hamptons too.. and put in the notes some of the posts regarding the questions we have etc..as a reminder..

Hi
That would be really good if you put on where we got to in this post, plus the Hamptons. With lots of notes about the uncertain bits so if we need to change it we can where it came from.
I promised NL that I will have a go at this Woodhouse lot soon. I've loads of notes because they are "our" Woodhouses and NL and I did make an effort a while back before BCC took off. They seem to have been a bit here and there with the baptisms so a lot are missing for ever I suspect.

I've done some of them where I could see known connections, but it didn't help me with chasing mysterious Josephs & Thomas's. Hope you have better luck FS

You should find some connections with your lot FS, 'cos, from what I've seen so far, all the Woodhouses in the area end up back with that 'Woodhouse of the Woodhouse of Womborne' family. Trust our rellies to fritter away the family inheritance!
