This is weird NL only found one Marriage for Josiah Priest to a Hannah Bissell 1757 RR. According to the IGI it looks as though there could have been two lots of Josiah and Hannah's as there is a Baptism for a Phoebe Priest 1.12.1776 RR and Abraham the same year 22.2.1766? linell.

There are 2 bapts one for a Josiah parents Josiah and Nancy
and then a Hannah parents Josiah and Nancy.

I would like to trace the Priest line back for the sake of my relatives in Australia but the person i got some of my Priest information from seems to have made some quantum leaps. We would all like to get back to the 1500 its so satisfying and so easy to delude oneself. Looks as if we will have to leave it to be verified.

I too descend from Hannah Nock & Josiah Priest. I have not made any progress with Hannah but have done a lot with the Priests.Josiah & Hannah had the following children: Sarah born 1779 (died 1780), William born 1780 (died?), William born 1783, Sarah born 1785, Sylvia born 1787 (my line), James born 1790, Phillis born 1792, Christiana born 1795. There also baptisms to Josiah & Priest and Nancy (Homer). I believe this Josiah to be the son of the other Josiah's brother James: he was bap 8 Nov 1767 the son of James Priest & Hannah (nee Barnsley). Therefore they are uncle and nephew.

Josiah was bap 25 Nov 1753 the son of Joseph & Joan Priest in Rowley. Joseph & Joan's children were: Benjamin (1737), Joseph 1740, William 1743, James 1745 (married Hannah Barnsley), John 1748, Edward 1751, Josiah 1753, Elizabeth 1756, Isaac 1761. There is no marriage on the IGI for Joseph Priest to Joan, but I suggest that the marriage of Joseph Price to Joan Guest at Rowley Regis 26 Dec 1734 is the one. Obviously it would be better to verify this from other records but it seems to fit in.

Joseph Priest was baptised 7 April 1713 the son of John & Elizabeth. John married Elizabeth Westwood at Rowley Regis 20 Aug 1699. Their children were: John 1700, Mary 1702, Edward 1705 (died?), Elizabeth 1706 (died 1711), Joseph 1709 (died 1709), Joseph 1713, Elizabeth 1715, Anne 1717 (died 1718), Edward 1719, Anne 1723.


John Priest is probably the son of Edward & Mary Priest bap 14 Jan 1671. Edward Priest married Mary Hill 14 Jan 1671 at Rowley Regis. Edward and Mary had no other children as far as I know. NB There is another possible baptism for John, the son of William (mother not named but possibly Ann) bap 30 May 1676. Their other children were Margret 1669, William 1673, Elizabeth 1671 (died 1672). I have not found the marriage of William and Ann.

Let me know what you think. Also I would be glad to hear if you have cracked the problem of Hannah.
