Trying to fit Joram WILLETTS (abt 1826) father of Simeon in with other Willetts - these census entries in 1851 seem to offer some clues. What can we make of them? Can we link this Joram with the Jorams in linell's line?

We had this entry for Simeon and Joram:
1841 - Dudley Wood, Dudley
Sarah Willetts 45 Nailor b. in County
Isaac Willetts 15 Nailor b. in County
Joram Willetts 15 (1826) Nailor b. in County
Willett David 13 Nailor b. in County (name reversed)
Jamima David (Willetts) 10 Nailor b. in County
Keziah David (Willetts) 8 b. in County

Then in 1851 - Bowling Green, Dudley, Worcs.., all next to each other in this sequence:
William Willetts Head widower 50 Carter b. Dudley, Worcs.
John Willetts Son 23 Chain Maker b. Dudley, Worcs.
Levi Willetts Son 15 Chain Maker b. Dudley, Worcs.
Olive Willetts Daur 21 b. Dudley, Worcs.
Eliza Willetts Daur 11 Scholar b. Dudley, Worcs.
Adah Willetts Daur 6 Scholar b. Dudley, Worcs.

Sarah Willetts Head widow 30 Dressmaker b. Bristol
Alfred Willetts Son 3 b. Bristol

Isaac Willetts Head 27 Bricklayer b. Dudley, Worcs.
Sarah Willetts Wife 27 b. Staff., Rowley Regis
Betsy Willetts Daur 8 Scholar b. Dudley, Worcs.
Sarah Ann Willetts Daur 4 b. Dudley, Worcs.

Sarah Willetts Head Widow 53 2/6 a week from Parish Nailor b. Halesowen
Jemima Willetts Visitor 20 Nailor b. Dudley, Worcs.
Keziah Willetts Visitor 17 Nailor b. Dudley, Worcs.

Joseph Willetts Head 42 Bricklayer b. Worcs., Bowling Green
Frances Willetts Wife 43 b. Worcs., Netherton
Keren-happuch Willetts Daur 15 b. Worcs., Bowling Green
Keziah Willetts Daur 11 b. Staff., Rowley Regis
William Willetts Son Bricklayer’s Labourer 9 b. Staff., Rowley Regis
Edmund Willetts Son 7 b. Staff., Rowley Regis
Sarah Ann Willetts Daur 4 b. Worcs., Bowling Green
Patience Willetts Daur 1 b. Worcs., Bowling Green
Thomas Price Apprentice Bricklayer’s Labourer 13 b. Worcs., Bewdly
Sarah Smith Mother-in-law 1/6 a week from Parish 67b. Worcs., Netherton

I think I've done it!

It was that 1851 Census ...

In 1851 we have:

William Willetts aged 50, therefore born 1801

Sarah Willetts widow aged 30 - don't know who her husband was yet.

Isaac Willetts aged 27, therefore born about 1824 - probably son of Sarah & Thomas, & brother to Joram (Simeon's dad)

Sarah Willetts 53 (therefore, born about 1798) widow of Thomas (born about 1797?)

Joseph aged 42, therefore born about 1809.

The children (all christened Rowley) of Joram Willetts and Mary Siviter (on BCC) are:
Sarah christened 1792
Isaac christened 1794
Thomas christened 1797
William christened 1801
Mary christened 1807
Elizabeth died 1807 in infancy
Josh christened 1809

The only problem is that all these kids' christenings are recorded in "Note From the Vicar of Rowley Regis (The Rev. A. F. Dauglish) Concerning the Fire at Rowley Regis Church, 18th June, 1913. " Whereas in the census they all say they were born at Dudley.

What do you all think?

John Willetts Son 23 Chain Maker b. Dudley, Worcs.
Levi Willetts Son 15 Chain Maker b. Dudley, Worcs.
Olive Willetts Daur 21 b. Dudley, Worcs.
Eliza Willetts Daur 11 Scholar b. Dudley, Worcs.
Adah Willetts Daur 6 Scholar b. Dudley, Worcs.

it probrerly is due to the fact too many dates and names match for the right parent could enter them with a note not 100% enter until proven differently ?

Peter Dudley Wood is only just out of Cradley Heath, probably 2/3 miles from St Giles, it is between Cradley Heath and Netherton not in Dudley proper. Don't forget that walking was a way of life for them, don't think we can judge 19th Century distances against our preceptions of distance, they could also hop across the fields which are now all built on. HTH from linell.

Ok just been sorting out the tree on Connections with this lot as some were on twice so linked up and deleted those that were duplicated.
So Di can you just check it looks correct with the info you gave? and anyone else please....need to get it right.

http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... onnections

So William Willetts b 1730 had Joram b 1767 and Isaac b 1768 and the line split
one line went
Joram b 1767 m Mary Siviter
they had
Thomas 1795/ Wm 1801/ Joseph 1809
then Thomas had
Isaac 1824 and Joram 1826
Joram then had Simeon.
---------
and then the brother of Isaac b 1768 ie Joram 1767 ..
married Mary Williams..
they had Joram 1805
and their dau Mary Willetts b 1829 married Thomas Woodhouse and that is the look up I have just done and put on here

http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... =207531377

Does that look right guys?
let me know then we need a new topic to fit that Joseph Woodhouse in....
agghhhhh!
