COMPLETED.......Early HACKETTS in Rowley Regis

Postby chrisg » Wed Jun 09, 2010 2:32 pm

The following from the register extracts appears to be a family

Baptisms

21/05/1709 Elizabeth d of John & Mary Hackett
07/01/1712 Mary d of John & Mary Ackit
01/12/1712 John s of John & Mary Ackit
04/04/1715 Joseph s of John & Mary Hackit
13/06/1717 Anne d of John & Mary Ackit
01/02/1718 Benjamin s of John & Mary Ackit
20/12/1719 Hannah d of John & Mary Ackit

see http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tribe/browse?userid=bcconnections&view=0&pid=56671&rand=948926947 (the last 4 children not added/connected yet.)

My feeling is that Joseph (1715) is the same as Joseph(1710) - see http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tribe/browse?userid=bcconnections&view=0&pid=6757&rand=585283968.

Comments would be appreciated on whether you think the connection should be made or rather create a Joseph (1715) and note possible connection under both enrtries.

Thanks.

I've all the above info, thanks. The question was whether the connection of the Josephs should be made. :-)

I think we connect up Joseph ( I have amended the date)
I will do that Chris and will put that I have connected

can you add any other info ie the other kids for John and Mary

also do we connect up Anne

the only thing that concerns me is the different spelling of surname which can
mean in the PR 2 different families

Thanks for connecting Joseph. Looking at all the register entries it looks as if the various spellings (Hacket/Ackit/Hackit/Hackitt/Hackett) are fairly consistent for a particular period and may be the version favoured by the vicar/curate of the time. At time, of course, most people wouldn't be able to read or write.
There is also the following marriage:-

1736 Aug 23 John Hackitt & Mary Windzer [Windsor] - likely to be sister of Thomas Windsor who married Anne. No Witnesses.

I'm inclined to link Anne as well, with a similar note to Joseph :?:

A bit more here.

Joseph's Daughter Mary (1735) http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tribe/browse?userid=bcconnections&view=0&pid=6761&rand=811950900 I believe married Thomas Jones (1736) http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tribe/browse?userid=bcconnections&view=0&pid=708&rand=726617570 - same witnesses as brother John Hackett's marriage on the same day (14th Sep 1755). I think we can safely merge the 2 Mary's, but I have no idea how to, so one for NL I think. :-)
