Can anybody help?

I am stuck on a Smith!!! :(
I have a Joseph Smith in my tree and I've come to a full stop with him!
My info so far is:
Joseph Smith born about 1834 in Bilston (info from 1871 census). He was married to a Martha (surname unknown). By 1871 they were living in West Bromwich. They had as far as I can tell three children: James (1859), Fred 1865, and Frank (1868) - all three on the 1871 census as being born in West Bromwich. I have been unable to locate the family before 1871, or (apart from James) after 1871. Josephs occupations are listed as railway plate layer, and watchman.
James married Clara Wright in Tipton in 1882, but in 1881 I have found him living in Old Meeting Street, West Bromwich where he lived (various addresses) at least until 1911.
Any help or suggestions gratefully received!
Sue

Hi Jimmy

I've looked through the census record, and you've struck gold. Somehow I'd got the wrong place of birth, but Chapel Street matches up with the 1871 census - so that confirms it. I'll have to send off for the death and marriage certificates now.

Thanks again for the help.

Sue this can be looked up
but not sure when someone is going

if you want the info looked up then go to Look up requests
and on the thread entitiles Dudley and Smethwick look ups post here
add your name and the above and I will add it

if you want the actual document then you need to either send for it from the registry office
or
if you want a photocopy you can contact the archives at Smethwick and for a charge they will send
you one out ( I think)
you would need to confirm how much and it wont be on pretty green paper
but bet it will be cheaper than £9

depends what you want...
