Tipton Parish Registers.

Postby Heybob » Tue Apr 27, 2010 2:01 am

Hi everyone,
I have noticed that the Tipton Parish Registers go from 1512 to 1736 on fiche, Could someone tell me if there are any other fiche available any where as I have checked a lot of suppliers and cannot find any after 1736, that leaves a huge gap to 1837. Thank you. Keith.

There are several Parishes as well as the Non-Conformist.

Look here for each Anglican parish and where their records are...

Here for the non-conformist

Who are you looking for in Tipton Keith? Tipton is very close to Dudley a lot of people used St Thomas Dudley for their baps and marriages, maybe worth searching the IGI for your ancestors see if they are lised on there :?: Linell.

Thank you for the help and advice good people, I will have a good look at it all. Hi Linell, in answer to your question as to whom I am researching in Tipton.
I have following one line at the moment, that is Downes. Benjamin Downes m Elizabeth Thompson 22/12/1813 @ parish church Sedgley. I have found two children, Jane Downes 20 & John Downes 17 in the 1851 Census both born in Sedgley. Jane was a witness at Johns wedding in 1854. I am led to believe however that there we other siblings before Jane and John who were born in Tipton, hence the interest. They may well have left home, marriage, work etc:
before the 1851 census was taken. Regards. Keith.

If you list the Sedgley Marriage under Look Ups Keith, when anyone goes to Dudley Archives they will perhaps look that up for you. So you really need the Sedgely Parish Records :?: Linell.

Hi, Northern Lass, Linell, MarkCDodd and PeterD, thank you for the time and effort that you have put in on my behalf. I live bush in Aus: and it is very difficult to get information, but this is just magic. I will put the marriage in 'Look ups' as I have never seen a Parish Register for marriage, it may give me information to whom Elizabeths father was. Thank you all once again. Keith.

Ok Heybob I have added that look up to the list and will do that as an urgent one for you
cos you new!

If you need any more look ups
please go to Look up requests section
then there is a thread entitled Dudley and Smethwick look ups post here
if you add what you wish to there and I then add it to the relevant Dudley or Smethwick list depending
which archive the PR is at.

I will delete the post you have added
but you will find it added on the Dudley archives list as that is where All Saints sedgley are.
If you do post anything for a request it is only Church ceremonies that can be looked up
ie Bapt Burial marriages
and I need the Day month and year and Church
or you can use the Bmsgh site to get the year church and an entry number
that tells me then which entry to look at in the PR

please bear in mind it is only as when and if someone is going and is able
and I warn you the list is huge!
so if you wish info earlier then you would need to contact the archives direct
