born Handsworth went to India as a soldier and married there and lived there for 38 years before returning to Handsworth .
Interesting as returned on Empire Windrush in April 1948 two months before ship went to Caribbean to bring Windrush Generation to UK.
It was used as a troop ship along with other troop ships to bring back Doctors , WVS. British Crown workers and expatriates after Independence of India in 1947
At independence British Population of India was 28,000 and within 20 years it was 6,500
Anglo Indian Population ( Eurasian) was 300,000 and today it is 150,000 ( 80,000 to 100,000 chose to leave at independence as children were called Kutcha Butcha ( half baked child) by indigenous Indians )
