In 1871 Karl is a 'Boarder' in the Household of Wilhelm.
They were born 2 years apart

There marriage notes have father as Joseph a glass engraver/cutter, so brothers seems likely

On that tree, it has their father as Franz Otto, also he would have been only 16 when Karl was born :?
