Lieutenant Henry Hingley Griffiths born on 13 January 1891 In Cradley Hill, Staffordshire a son to John Henry and Mary Adelaide Griffiths, of 36, High St., Cradley Heath.
In 1916 he fought in France & Belgium as a second lieutenant in the South Staffs 8th Battalion.
On 13 June 1917 he married Kathleen Margery Griffiths, of The Hollies, Cherry Tree, Blackburn.
He attained the rank of Lieutenant and during fighting in Mamtez and Deville Wood he was wounded and slightly gassed.
in 1918 he was returned to England with war related sickness Pneumonia following influenza contracted whilst on War Service and died at Broughton Heath, Chester on 26th October 1918 aged 27.
Buried at Stourbridge Cemetery in area L Grave 328 and the inscription on his gravestone FOR KING FOR COUNTRY & FOR HOME CHRISTIAN DEVOTION"
