Hello kdwoodie,

This really is a treat for me; imagine my surprise when I read the thread. You've done so well finding the information on Ann Shaw Nelms Cook. She is my 3rd great-grandaunt. Thank you, brilliant and such great research.

Kind regards,
Robyn.

Ok, I need more help here please.

In 1881 there is a grandson mentioned by the name of William Shaw aged 8.

Ann's maiden name was Shaw. He can't be her grandson. Who are the parents of William Shaw?

Ann's siblings were Mary Ann baptised 1806, Elizabeth bp. 1897 (she married Samuel Rhodes) Ann Maria bp.1810, Joseph bp.1810, Mary bp. 1812, Sarah bp.1814-d.1815, Rebecca bp. 1817, and Hannah bp. 1819. All baptised at St. Thomas, Dudley. Parents Moses and Sarah.

Any help please with the whereabouts of the Shaw children?

Thank you,
Robyn.

The only way to be sure of Williams parents would be to get the birth certificate.

There is this birth but unsure if correct one
SHAW William Edward COOK 1872 Wakefield Wakefield WFD/43/37

Also in 1861 there is a Mary Ann Cook age 8
COOKE, MARY ANN NELMS
GRO Reference: 1853 M Quarter in DUDLEY Volume 06C Page 113

John aslo has MMN as Nelms, I cannot find brths for Henry or Elizabeth.

Joseph Nelms died 1855 so how come Ann is having children with William

Not sure if we can do any more on this thread

I have added that marriage as a possible to Hannah....Kdw connect up if you think strong enuff will you?

we have another moses and sarah so not sure which kids are with which other than what we have added on Bcc.

So the only one remaining is that Rebecca to find a death or marriage if we cant find anything will move this to brickwalls.

Just thought I'd add this as a reference Not to be confused with the Moses Shaw and Sarah Griffin I have enquired about with previous posts.

As you have mentioned Northern Lass there is another Moses Shaw.

Moses Shaw bp.1773 in St. Thomas, Dudley parents Aaron and Susanna. I believe this Moses married Sarah Walker in 1796. There were three daughters Rhoda bp.1799, Sarah bp.1801 and Kerenhappuch bp.1803 all baptised in St. Thomas, Dudley. Possible death in 1814.

I can see the similarities but I am almost sure that these two Moses are different people one married Sarah Walker and the other Sarah Griffin. Unless Moses married twice.

Is there any reference on the baptism records, for the three daughters, as to the occupation of Moses born in 1773?

Thank you.

Kdwoodie,

I can't find these on BMD. Can you advise please where I should look to find them? The first just comes up as SHAW William Edward (without the COOKE)1872 Wakefield and the second COOKE, Mary Ann (without the NELMS). Also John COOK or NELMS? I can see John and Mary Ann Cook in 1861 with their father William living in the household of Ann Nelms (spelt Nelins) aged 51. Can you please explain as I'm quite confused?

Yes we have the 2 different Moses and Sarah on Bcc ...so we have the above and kids sarah rhoda and Kerenhappuch.
and Yes one marries a Sarah Griffine and one a sarah walker.

there wont be any ref on the bapt as to occup if earlier than 1813 ...think that is when occup is noted alone with abode.

Let me know if you want your username added to Moses shaw and Elizabeth shaw the dau..I can ask the owner of Bcc if that is ok.

Thank you Northern Lass and Kdwoodie for all you've done to help me with my family research.

If there is anymore out there I'd always be happy to receive it.

Thank you for asking, I would like my username added if that is at all possible.

Regards,
Robyn.

Before 1911 MMN is not on BMD

http://www.yorkshirebmd.org.uk/birthsearch.php for William Edward which can also be found on the link below

GRO website https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/cert ... #LoginForm, you have to register but can search for births with MMN
