Mary J Manger

Postby Frodo » Thu Jan 16, 2020 8:16 pm

During my Ancestry research I have come across a Mary Jane Manger b c1860 d 1878 on the census returns and notice she appears on the Black Country Connection page. I find it strange that she doesn't appear on the family tree that my father did and also isn't on the one his uncle/cousin created. I also have a number of family photos and again she isn't on any of them. My distant cousin who is descended from David Manger's second wife Mary also has no knowledge of her. It looks like she was only 18 when she died. Does anyone have any other information or sources of her life/death which might explain why she has been ignored in the family tree?

Definitely the correct family so strange she was never mentioned. Martha Manger's 'cot death' daughter is talked about so it can't be an early death thing. There are photos of Hannah and Rachel in the Gallery along with some I posted with no name so I wonder if that might be Mary. I can't decide whether they were under 18 when the photos were taken. Are records of cause of death available for the year she died?

You will be able to get the death record from the GRO as PDF that is a little cheaper than certificate.

Thanks. It looks like something else to add to the growing list. I keep resisting the temptation to send for certificates but will do eventually.
