Nutsy we can easily look the marriage up but you need to add it to the look up requests
Go to Look up requests section
then go to the Dudley archives and Sandwell thread and post there
I need the day year or go on the bmsgh and use their ref which means when I look the marriage up it gives me the entry no on the bmsgh

I will then add it to my list

Ps I am talking about the marriage for David and sarah smith
need to know where the other marriage for bloomer is

This is the marriage on free bmd but I can't find the church for Sarah Bloomer and David Harris
so unless I have the church can't look this one up ...you would need the marriage cert sending for.....

Marriages Mar 1865
Barker Mary Kidderminster 6c 271
Bloomer Sarah Kidderminster 6c 271
Fraser James Kidderminster 6c 271
Harris David Kidderminster 6c 271

BUT!

The Smith one can be looked up

1864
SMITH Sarah HARRIS David Dudley, St Thomas Dudley Register Office 204/022/257

the 257 will take me directly to the actual entry no
or I need from the IGI this

DAVID HARRIS Spouse: SARAH SMITH Family
Marriage: 24 APR 1864 Saint Thomas, Dudley, Worcester, England Extracted

at least looking up one of them will give us I think the info we need father, ages occup

On ances trees it seems to be a John Bloomer and Eliza wyatt plus member submitted has that info too for a Sarah Bloomer
they have those names for the kids too don't they?

The Sarah Bloomer and David Harris marriage I found on ancestry, but only on a private family tree. I contacted those who have the tree and have been given accesss, but there is very little information on there.

I've copied what I can find from there.

There's a tree on Ancestry with this Bloomer family - Georgiou/Bloomer Family Trees.

There is nothing that fits this at St Mary's, Kidderminster, St John and St George's did'nt do marriages until 1867, so it looks like a Registry office or Non Conformist marriage.

linell wrote:Hi all, the Cradley Vicar's Notebook have a David and Sarah Harris living with John and Eliza Bloomer Colley Lane Cradley 1863/64, David and Sarah Harris have a one year old son Joseph.

There's another David and Sarah Harris living on their own, in The Innage Cradley at the same time. The Vicar has no notes on them except to say +3, which I take to mean that Sarah was three months pregnant. I think this is the couple who are in Cradley in 1871 with a daughter Anna M aged 6 in 1871. David was aged 36 so born 1835, which makes him to old to be the son of Joseph and Mary Harris from Lomey Town their son was born 1844/5.

Has anyone found David born 1844/5 with a son Joseph born 1864 in 1871?

Linell.

I looked up the Marriage of Joseph Harris (David's parents??) and Mary Bennet Halesowen 29.10.1832. Joseph was a bach otp and Mary was a sp otp. Witnesses were Thomas Westwood and Mary Ann Harris. Married by Banns, Joseph and Mary made their mark. Hope this aids the search a bit further? linell.

I think that is Nutsy's David Harris and Sarah Bloomer Peter, son Joseph is aged one in the Vicar's Notebook 1864? linell

If I had to choose which family was mine, I would lean towards this one as with the first born son being Joseph which is David's fathers name also.

Both families have an Eliza.. one is Eliza Mary and the other just listed as Eliza M.

Both have other similarites as well.

The other family have children by the names of Clara, Emily, John, Arthur, Eliza M and then they both have a David as the youngest child.

So there is one extra child in one family and differences in a couple of the names... John H and John, Eliza Mary and Eliza M

I don't think there are 2 similar families, Nutsy. I think they are one family through the years. Daughter, Clara b. 1869, is not with them in 1881, but is back in 1891. I think Clara is with Harry Dorse, a builder, as a servant in 1881 (see below). Eliza M and Eliza Mary are the same person.

1871 living Innage, Cradley Worcs
David Harris H married 24 Forgeman b. Cradley Heath b. 1847
Sarah wife 25 b Cradley b. 1846
Joseph son 6 b. 1865
Clara dau 2 b. 1869
Emily 10 mths b. 1870/71

David HARRIS. Head M Male 35 Cradley Heath, Stafford, Ironworker. b. 1846
Sarah HARRIS. Wife M Female 35 Cradley, Worcester b. 1846
Joseph HARRIS. Son U Male 16 Cradley, Worcester, Scraper In Wire Mill. b. 1865
Emily HARRIS. Daur Female 10 Cradley, Worcester, Scholar. b. 1871
John H. HARRIS. Son Male 8 Cradley, Worcester, Scholar. b. 1873
Arthur HARRIS. Son Male 6 Cradley, Worcester, Scholar. b. 1875
Eliza Mary HARRIS. Daur Female 4 Cradley, Worcester, Scholar. b. 1877
David HARRIS. Son Male 2 Cradley, Worcester, b. 1879

1881 65 Cradley Road, Cradley Heath
Harry Dorse Head 26 Builder employing 12 men & 2 boys
Emma Dorse Wife 27
Wilfred H. Dorse Son 4
Lorenzo St. Clayer Dorse Son 3

Emily Harris Daur 20 Dressmaker b. Worcs, Cradley b. 1871
John Harris Son 18 Chain Warehouseman b. Worcs, Cradley b. 1873
Arthur Harris Son 16 Iron Works Labourer b. Worcs, Cradley b. 1875
Eliza M Harris Daur 14 b. Worcs, Cradley b. 1877
David Harris Son 12 Scholar b. Worcs, Cradley b. 1879

1901 Colley Lane, Cradley
Sarah Harris Head Widow 56 b. Worcs., Cradley b. 1845

Edward Cooper Boarder Widower 41 Collier B...sman b. Worcs., Cradley
Martha Cooper Visitor 19 General Servant Domestic Lane, Barrow-in-Furness

Looks Like David & Sarah Harris' daughter, Eliza Mary, married a David Hingley of Old Hill, Rowley Regis.

Yeah I've got the David Hingley down already,

So, do you reckon there is just the one family then? It does seem weird how the childrens names are so similar which is what threw me.

So, which Sarah do you reckon David married then? Harris or Bloomer?

I see now what you're saying about Clara, hadn't looked into that deeply before now.. didn't even pick up the difference in ages between Joseph and Emily.

Thanks for all that info Dianel.. kinda makes a bit more sense now with narrowing it down to the one family.

So, would I be wrong in assuming that it's Sarah Smith or are we stil lleaninng towards the Sarah Bloomer?

Hi Nutsy,
I still have a problem with sorting out the Sarahs ...

On the one hand, the David & Sarah who are with the Bloomers in 63/64 have a son, Joseph the right age, on the other hand, the David & Sarah who were not with the Bloomers are at Innage, Cradley Heath, which is where our family are in 1871 & 1881.

(Oh, bach otp = bachelor of this parish, and sp otp = spinster of this parish.)

Linell, is it certain that the Vicar made these notes at the same time? No chance that the"Innage" one was earlier?
