*Arch * -Black country girl leaves for USA

Postby Sharon » Sun Feb 15, 2009 11:06 pm

Hi Sharon here, the "John Henry Moore" headache query...that you were all brilliant at!
I have another poser.....talking to dad today and he suddenly remembered that his maternal grannys sister bravely emigrated to America when she was about 20. He thinks her name was Caroline ..(Newton?)
Her sister was Mrs Hannah Evans. her parents were Elizabeth Priest & William Newton. She was born 22 August 1874 . She married Walter Evans dec 1st 1895 at St Michael's Brierley Hill. She was born in Sheffield St Quarry Bank.
Any suggestions on how to prove this?
thanks in advance!
Sharon

Thanks again superteam!
Dad seems to think she bravely set out alone and unmarried!
Hannah married Walter Samuel Evans, and Had a son Francis John, in 1899 at New Pool Quarry Bank. She later moved to Graingers Lane Cradley heath and ran a shop there. She oulived 2 husbands, this one and a ? Harbach.

rumour has it that Caroline went to L.A...she possibly had 2 daughters Etta & Louisa..married a wealthy man and lived on Long Island.

thank you! didnt know anything about gt grannys Harbach marriage. She had no children from this, but Francis & Cissie from her first marriage. My dad doesnt remember any grandfathers. He was born at 101 Graingers Lane. Her husband Walter Evans died in 1910 in her presence at 50 Graingers Lane. (I need a map!)
How would I find any other siblings of Hannah, and if Caroline went to the states?

you're not going to like me....but apparently one of my grandfathers sisters Leah, (John Henry b 1891) married 2 Harbach brothers (one after the other!) John & Nelson who are buried together at St peters Cradley....

sorry...
