Birmid - One of the largest Employers in Smethwick

Postby mallosa » Tue Feb 03, 2009 9:14 pm

Mark has sent me the following:
Grandad Bob used to work at the Birmid, he was a master moulder and he used to cast Merlin engines during the second world war.

.........Robert Evans b1898 Oldbury

It made me wonder if anyone else has family members that worked there too?

The Birmid!!
When i left school i worked for Atack Bros electric contractors and i worked at The Birmid for 2 weeks doing electrical maintenance.
My memories are of how dirty and dusty it was there and how massive the place was.

Just a thought!!
