Thanks for the welcome everyone.
Selina Fereday born Tipton 1827 was my GG Grandmother. Her Father's name was Benjamin.
The Rollason side is a bit more complicated. My Grandfather was registered as Rollason but his parents were Robert and Rosanna Rowson. I have found them in the workhouse at new cross in the 1911 census. Robert died there in 1922 but I haven't been able to find a death for Rosanna yet. Living so far away makes it more difficult to get info as so many records are not online. Does anyone know when the workhouse closed and what happened to the people living there. I know it became a hospital but I don't know when.

Hi
yes all of those details are correct. I have traced Rosanna's family back to Alexander Brazier born Middle Water Lane, York 1789. Son of James Brazier, shoemaker and his wife Ann. There is also an entry in the Register of St. Mary, Castlegate York.

James s James Brazier,Shoe Maker in the Middle Water Lane, s William Brazier, Shoemaker at Etten ser Lanes near Wolverhampton in Staffordshire by Eliz Stockes, his wife and Ann, d Alexander Milnes, Blacksmith in York by Ann Pook his wife b Oct 15 1786.
I assume he would be Alexander's brother.

I didn't get a copy of the birth certificate for Hull as I'm sure that is not the right one. There are a lot of Rowsons in that area but they are not connected to my family as far as I can tell.

The Hull one doesn't make any sense to me. Rosanna's children still lived in the Bilston area. If Rosanna had moved there to live with relatives, why didn't they register her death? Also, if the registrar had her birth cert with the name Rosanna, why would he register the death as Rose A? The death certs from that time do not give a place of birth so unless Granddad registered her death there I can't see that it will prove anything.
I have had to obtain copies of death certs from 1944 and 1950 Wolverhampton using the info from gravestones as I couldn't find their GRO refs either.
I don't have a burial record for Rosanna, so I can't use that in this case. I'm certain Rosanna died in the Bilston area but without a date of death I don't know what to do.
