Postby nocky1972 » Mon Jan 19, 2009 9:24 am

Good morning Jan, hope you have had a good weekend.

Firstly my username is nocky1972

here are my next few people : -

Wife of Thomas Nock = 1/ Mary Ann Law b: abt 1827 All Saints, West Bromwich (Married 23rd June 1845 St Martin (Pepper Box), Tipton) - her fathers name on the certificate I had was Job Law
Son of Thomas & Mary Ann = 2/ James Nock b: 16th Feb 1852 Lyndon, West Bromwich (taken from birth certificate)
Sister of James Nock = 3/ Eliza Nock b: abt 1857 West Bromwich

Thomas must have died around 1859 because Mary married again 1861 (Dudley Vol 6c Page 139)to a William Butler of West Bromwich. As Thomas was a miner i wonder if he may have died in a mining accident or of ill health due to his profession. There are quite a few Thomas Nock's listed in the IGI so finding the correct one may be difficult do you think ? I can't find Thomas Nock on the 1861 census or thereafter...

Once again your help is much appreciated

Kind regards

Simon

That looks like the family in 1851 with 3 more kids

I think that the bapt in dudley st Thomas is the correct one
and the brother Joseph I found matched James and Ann as parents...nail weigher.
This Thomas and Mary call their eldest dau Ann too.

1851 West Brom Staffs
Thomas Nock 27 h coal miner b RR
Mary Nock 25 b WB
Joseph son 5 b wb

Thomas son 8 mths b wb
William Brookes lodger 25 coalminer b west brom
Eliza brooks 23 b looks like rugby?

this looks like that marriage...
and it said June regis on free bmd

1861
NOCK Mary BUTLER William Tipton, St Martin (Pepper Box) Sandwell Register Office 39/9/349

3 deaths on bmsgh for a Thomas nock so could be any of them regis west bromwich if that is where it was regis?
you could always say you only want it if he is born about 1823/24
based on one of these
the regis office will normally do a sweep of 5 yrs so say 1859 2yrs either side
they are very helpful
it would be sandwell regis office
or if you think it might be dudley ie those below then again they offer I think the same
but both regis offices are very helpful

1857
NOCK Thomas West Bromwich North East Sandwell Register Office WBNE/16/217

1858
NOCK Thomas Tipton Sandwell Register Office TIP/26/333
NOCK Thomas West Bromwich South West Sandwell Register Office WBSW/16/187

1859
NOCK Thomas B Sedgley Dudley Register Office SEG/034/62
NOCK Thomas Sedgley Dudley Register Office SEG/032/497
NOCK Thomas West Bromwich North East Sandwell Register Office WBNE/18/92

and here is the link for Connections with the family on

Thomas Nock and family

I cannot see them on 1861 any of those kids
can anyone?
