ARC TBC 'Clarke 'Clark' history--

Postby harryfotta » Tue Mar 31, 2020 7:41 pm

Hello All.

I am trying to find out information regarding the surname Clark/e.
Potentially, my 3*GG was John Clark/e born in the early 1830's in Manchester, but I'm not convinced he was originally from there.

From census records 1861 onwards - he lived either in Tipton or West Bromwich.
I can't seem to find Manchester baptism records of him, but I can from around The Black Country.
In the 1861 census, John Clarke is a Boatman.
He married Mary Ann Trumpeter on 16th May 1859 in Tipton.

Could it be, his father, William Clarke was a Boatman too? Could John have been born whilst on their travels?

I am really struggling.

Can anybody please point me in the right direction?

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Kind regards Andy

Thanks kdwoodie, but I already know this information.

My battle is trying to find out if John Clark was baptised in Manchester or in the black country.

And also, was his father from Manchester, or was he a boatman on his travels?

I don't know if I'm ever going to find this information or not? :(
