John Willetts 1849

Postby Mabel » Wed Nov 14, 2018 12:30 pm

I am working on a theory that the two John Willetts on BCC 1849 are the same. One the father of John Willetts who married Emmie Baker and the other's father Elijah Willett married to Ruth.
Free reg give a baptism for John Willetts 14th may 1848 at St Martins Tipton father Elijah miner and mother Ruth, abode the workhouse. On BCC has Elijah living with other miners at the Whitehouse Tipton. One of the transcripts could be wrong.

Also Northfield Road, Netherton, Old Hill connection. Elijah, John etc. etc.

I see John Willetts 1849 ish is now down as marrying Sarah Smith. Seems good. Have found a John Willetts 21 and Sarah Willetts lodging with Samuel Smith 62 and Sarah Smith 65 in Halesowen Road 1871 census. Is this the mother of Sarah. Don't think the Tipton theory is at all right. Interesting though was this John Willetts really born in workhouse Tipton.
