Hi Wendy,

Marriage and deaths are pretty straightforward, and confirm the info you have:-

Catherine E ANDERSON
Marriage recorded March 1943, Shoreditch Volume 1c Page 86
Spouse surname MATTHEWS

Peter H MATTHEWS
Marriage Recorded March 1943, Shoreditch Volume 1c Page 96
Spouse Surname ANDERSON

Catherine E MATTHEWS
Death recorded March 1961 Shoreditch, Volume 5d Page 599, age 60

I searched births from Jan-Feb-Mar 1899 to Jan-Feb-Mar 1902, and only found 2 births that seem plausible:-

March 1900 Catherine Elizabeth ANDERSON Stepney 1c/419
Sept.1899 Catherine ANDERSON Shoreditch 1c/114

There is however a Catherine ANDERSON, aged 1 in Shoreditch in the 1901 census, which suggests her birth may be earlier than the marriage and death would lead you to believe.

I think personally, I'd get hold of the 1901 census image, and the marriage certificate. You can then see whether the same parents appear in each case. Assuming they do, the census should give some idea as to the area where Catherine was born. The ages in each case, together with the age at death should also help narrow down her the months during which she could have been born. You've then got a better idea whether either of the above births might be the right one.

Hope that helps
