:) Hi Evan

You left out some details! You also need 1851,1861,1871, 1881, 1891 and 1901 Censuses
Thomas DAVIES married Selina BEVAN or PRICE, married in Swansea (Wales) on 26 Feb 1866. I have no further information about them and nothing concrete turns up when I do a search on ancestry.co.uk.

Marriages Jun 1866
Surname First name(s) District Vol Page

Davies Thomas Swansea 11a 840
Davies Job Swansea 11a 840
BEVAN Selina Swansea 11a 840
GRIFFITHS Ann Swansea 11a 840

SEE ALSO viewtopic.php?f=15&t=188&p=429#p429 and viewtopic.php?f=2&t=190 for other details 8) Cheers

Alec :D

Thanks Alec!

I assume that the "11a 840" is a ref. to in the marriage register to the actual certificate? What do I do now to actually follow "11a 840"?

Regards,
Evyn

Hi Evyn

11a 840 IS the GRO index reference you need to order a copy of the certificate from the GRO ....

If you go to this site:
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/
you can order a copy of the certificate for £7.

You will need to fill in the form, where it asks Is the General Register Office Index known? click yes.

Then on the next page you will need to enter the details for the certificate you want ...
Name/s
Volume number = 11a
Page = 840
District = Swansea
quarter = Aril - June
Year = 1866

Hmmmm...

I have just used http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/ to find the death certificates for Thomas DAVIES (6 May 1912) and Selina BEVAN (23 Nov 1909). I see that these certs list their parents names (David DAVIES and looks likes Mary HARRY, and Thomas BEVAN and Mary GRIFFITHS).

Is it standard practice to include this type of information?

Not on England and Wales death certs it isn't!
Wish I had ancestry in Scotland if they give you all that info on a death cert! 8)
