Hi, I'm new here, I'm from Canada, I'm searching for my ancestors and if lucky, new relatives. I was researching the Stringer and Thorpe side of my family when I googled George Boswell, my 2nd great grandfather and it led me to this forum. This forum had a thread from 2009 regarding my family and it led me to this site http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tribe/browse?userid=bcconnections&view=86&pid=36356&ver=318112 and realized this was my family!! Florence Minnie Boswell was my Great Grandmother, she married John William Thorpe, had 8 children and immigrated to Canada in 1926, the rest of her family stayed in England and I would love to find anyone related. This forum also helped me discover George Boswell's parents whom I never would have found, so Thanks for such a great site :) Also thanks to this site, I would have never known what Black Country was and their accent, it just brings me closer to my ancestors and learn what they would have been like :)

Thanks for the kind welcome :)

Yes that is their marriage certificate, I found that from ukcensus, I don't have a copy of the certificate itself though. I am having a very hard time finding any information on John William Thorpe, according to my Mother, her grandfather never talked about his mother, she thinks that she died when he was very young and she doesn't know anything about his parents. I have found his name and dob 1887 in records but there is no way for me to confirm that it's actually him. He was born 1887 and died 1953 in Sprucedale, Ont Canada and that's all I know. I would really love to meet someone that was related to them, I don't even know where to look lol

I don't know, while the cat's away etc.

Not that I'm blaming you Raine, welcome to the forum by the way, but these regulars know we like to keep this area for simple introductions otherwise tracking down threads can become complicated which is why I've copied this to the Black Country Forum where I would appreciate it if any more family detail could be posted.
