I have recently been heavily researching my family tree and came across the BCC site whilst tracking down my Black Country ancestors.
My fathers paternal line can be traced to the Parsons of Baptists End, Netherton, Dudley who were mostly Ironworkers and many of
them migrated to the North East in the 1800's when a rich seam of iron ore was discovered in the Cleveland Hills, particularly at
Eston near Middlesbrough (where I currently reside). This gave birth to the Teesside iron & steel industry which produced the steel for most notably the Sydney harbour bridge.
One name I came across on BCC which is important in my tree is THOMAS PARSONS b abt 1792 (my 3rd great grandfather) - his actual birth date was Oct 1791. His wife is shown as Sophia 'unknown' - her surname was Whitehouse (1793-1858). Thomas's parents are shown as Oliver Parsons and Mary Turner but I believe these to be an incorrect connection.
On the FamilySearch site I have traced Oliver and Mary and they did have a son Thomas but born in 1798 at Old Swinford along with the other siblings mentioned in Mumbles tree. My Thomas was born in Dudley.
I understand the correct parentage to be a William Parsons b1769 and a Jane 'unknown' b1771. This is also confirmed in several other family trees on the Ancestry site, but noone appears to know their parents, which is my most pressing Brick Wall.
If anyone can assist with this I will be very grateful. If I can assist with the North East connection I will be happy to do so.
Cheers,
Martin
