Hi all,
I hope someone can help me get out of a dead end I’m stuck in.

I have the following family in the 1871 census, living at 114 Kirkdale Road, Liverpool

James Nelson Head b.1823 Liverpool
Elizabeth Nelson Wife b. 1821 Liverpool
Elizabeth Nelson Daughter b.1848 Everton
Alice Nelson Daughter b.1851 Everton
Mary E. Nelson Daughter b.1855 Everton
William Son b. 1859 Everton

There is also a daughter Anne who was born in approx 1844/45 but she was married at the time of the 1871 census.

I have the family in the 1851 census as

James Nelson/27/watchfinisher/Liverpool
Elizabeth/30/Liverpool
Ann Nelson/7/Liverpool
Elizabeth Nelson/2/Liverpool

The problem is I cannot find any of them in the 1861 census. I have searched for the individuals but have had not luck whatsoever. Is anyone able to offer any suggestions as to where I should try next. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Have you tried looking on 1837 online? They have the 1861 census index. I had a quick look, and there is an Elizabeth Nelson aged 13 in Liverpool. You have to pay to view the images but at least it gives you and idea.
