Mother's maiden name

Postby Robyn » Tue Apr 11, 2023 2:09 pm

I have a relative named Thomas Parkes birth registered in Aston Nr. Birmingham in 1850 ref. 16 191. Is there anyway I can find the name of his mother/father without having to purchase a birth certificate? In the 1861 census as nephew he was living in Birmingham with his aunt Rosanna and uncle James Parkes (aged 56). I can't locate anything for him after 1861. Thank you in anticipation.

Thank you Jimmy. I'll see if there is a marriage with his mother's maiden name.

Once again thank you Jimmy. I've looked at the marriage record on Ancestry, but so far I can't find a link (presume brothers) with uncle James Parkes and the groom John Parkes who I take is the father of Thomas b. 1850.

I tried to find them in the census but you will find the name Baskerfield an hard name to trace, you also have the surnames Basterfield, Baskerville and Bastable are all used, I couldn't see any baptisms for Thomas born 1850 or for Susannah Baskerfield

I too have been searching but found nothing that would fit the family. A brickwall for now I think. Thank you for your help Jimmy and doing searches. Kind regards Robyn.

Could it be this birth?

PARKES, THOMAS COOKSEY
GRO Reference: 1850 S Quarter in BIRMINGHAM Volume 16 Page 355

I can see children born earlier to this couple, but have not found the marriage.
