So Mary Lawton has father Owen Lawton and mother Charlotte Baker.
so who is that Thomas Lawton is that Owens father?
and the Charlotte Lawton that marries venebles is her father not Thomas lawton?
Owen Lawton bapt. 24 March 1788 St Philip’s Birmingham, parents Thomas and Ann; married Charlotte Barker 20 May 1805 All Saints West Bromwich (Owen Laughton)
Children of Owen Lorton/Lawton/Laughton and Charlotte
1) Jane bpt. Jane Lorton 30 May 1806, St Martin, Birmingham, married James Johns 6 June 1842
2) John bpt. John Lorton 10 March 1814, married Ann Genders 2 Aug 1847, St Michael the Archangel, Rushall [note: also baptised St Philip’s born 4 Mar 1814, bapt. 15 Apr 1816, mother Sarah, father Owen, same address]3) Thomas b. abt. 1808, married Martha Slater 3 July 1826 St Philip’s Birmingham (first son named William Owen b. 28 Nov 1826, bpt. 11 Jun 1829 St Martin Birmingham). Died 1856 aged 48, 1851 census aged 43?
4) Elizabeth b. abt. 1826, married John Stone 24 Dec 1854 St Philip’s Birmingham (father Owen, witnesses Mary A and William Lorton) Note: 1861 census born 1827; 1871 census b. 1826 – Jane Severns is in household. Think this is Elizabeth from the 1841 census, NOT gdau Elizabeth from 1851 census. Not sure if Thomas is the son of Owen or not. Can only find a baptism for Thomas son of a Thomas and Ann. He could be the father of Charlotte
Charlotte Lawton b. abt. 1830, father Thomas Lawton brass founder (married Samuel Venables 1 Aug 1848, in 1851 census with Jane but named Harriett)
I think that Mary Ann Lawton (mother of Jane Severns) was probably the daughter of Jane Lawton and grand dau of Owen. But can't find a baptism or marriage for her online.
In 1871 Jane Severns was in the same household as Elizabeth Stone (daughter of Owen Lawton) and Charlotte Venables (daughter of Thomas Lawton according to her marriage certificate)

Jane Lawton (dau Owen) and Charlotte (dau of Thomas) were in the same household in 1851, so the family obviously stayed in touch over the years.

It did cross my mind that if Mary Ann was the illegitimate daughter of Jane, then perhaps Charlotte was too. But obviously that is speculation!
