James Dunn junior was baptised at St. Michael's Church, Brierley Hill on 11th February 1781, the son of James Dunn and Sarah nee Forrest https://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/t ... ver=500686. He was an older brother to my 3x great grandfather, Silas Dunn. James married Sarah, they had 11 children and lived at Angel Street, Stourbridge in 1841 and 1851; James was a Fruit Dealer. James died in 1852, aged 71 and was buried at St. Mary's Church, Oldswinford. Sarah died in 1866, aged 77, and was also buried at Oldswinford.
I'm trying to determine the identity of Sarah who married James. There are two marriages between a James Dunn and Sarah, both in 1810 (which fits well with the birth of my James and Sarah's first child in 1812) and both at St. Thomas's Church, Dudley where 4 of James's brothers were married:
25th June 1810 James Dunn otp. bachelor m. Sarah Mallen otp. spinster. By Banns. Both signed their names. Wits: James Dunn & Richd. Bond.
and
27th December 1810 James Dunn otp. bachelor m. Sarah Drury otp. spinster. By Banns. Both made mark. Wits: Richard Webb & Mark Bond.
I considered the possibility that the same James married both Sarah's but this seems unlikely given that James who married Sarah Mallen could sign his name but James who married Sarah Drury couldn't. Also, I haven't been able to find a burial for a Sarah Dunn between June and December 1810.
My thinking is that Sarah Mallen is most likely - the witness, James Dunn, could be James junior's father and 4 of James's brothers could sign their names so it seems likely that he would be able to sign his name too.
I haven't been able to track down any wills so I'm struggling to think how I might prove Sarah's identity. I'd welcome any comments/suggestions.
